Swatches | Highlight Liquid Lipstick -Rendezvous

img_5129

Hey guys! Today I have a liquid lipstick swatch and review for you featuring the up and coming brand, Highlight Cosmetics! They put out a blogging call recently that I responded to and was chosen to pick one shade from their matte liquid lipstick line to test and review. I chose the shade Rendezvous, a deep gorgeous bronze metallic shade.

First a little bit about the brand, Highlight is said to be “created to be a dual purpose product which not only beautifies the exterior but also the interior. We have created 10 different shades including 5 metallic’s of a non transferable water resistant matte long lasting liquid lipstick that will highlight the face with a natural glow, enhance the lips and provide more moisture. These shades will improve complexion and leave a shinier and smoother skin tone behind. Our philosophy is to take care of your inside while the outside is highlighted.

Unlike other matte lipsticks, this one contains turmeric, extracts and a peptide. Other ingredients include green and white tea extract, kelp extract and safflower oil. Turmeric has been formulated to prevent the appearance of dry and chapped lips. Safflower oil contains proteins, minerals, vitamins. Our product is great for all skin types because it’s highly soothing to the skin.”

I absolutely love the packaging, the lipstick shaped interior is both fun and practical. It has a velvety smooth doe foot that made application really easy and I found Rendezvous to have a super nice silky texture.

img_5132

Rendezvous packaging.

I didn’t have any feathering out along my lip line and the staying power of this lippy is insane! I literally needed to use a cleansing oil to remove it in the shower after a full day’s wear! I did have a little bit of wear along the inside of my lip line but not something a quick touch up wouldn’t fix.

img_5753

Rendezvous swatch under artificial lighting.

The finish on Rendezvous is a shimmery metallic that translates well to the lip, it did feel a little bit dry but I was able to eat and drink all day with no transferring of the lip color onto anything! Once it’s dry, it is staying put.

img_5696

Rendezvous swatch in indirect natural lighting.

When I received this in the mail I was worried that the shade wouldn’t be very flattering on me but after wearing it I think I will be reaching for it a ton this fall.

img_5703

Rendesvous in artificial lighting.

Highlight liquid lipsticks retail for $25 or $12.50 wholesale, I do believe that this product is worth it! The wear time and range of shades are what I feel are more high end. Nail Art | Studio Ghibli Inspired Soot Sprites ft. Spell Polish

ghiblibottle

Finished Soot Sprite glossy mani under artificial lighting.

Hey guys! I have been so excited to share these with you, if you are a Studio Ghibli fan you’ll know exactly how giddy I am about this look! Soot Sprites show up in a few of the Studio Ghibli films, my favorite is Spirited Away when Chihiro/Sin feeds them the little star shaped sprinkles.

I began with a base of one coat of Tux Polish‘s Onyx on my index and pinky nails and one coat of Pure on my middle and ring nail. I then did one coat of Spell Polish‘s Rainbow Balloon across all nails with some glitter placement before adding a nice thick layer of topcoat.

Once more at an angle.

I then used a dotting tool and black acrylic paint to make bodies for each of the sprites before going in with a small detail brush and feathering out their shapes with more acrylic paint. I added little legs and arms in there as well, and used a smaller dotting tool and white acrylic paint to make the eyes. I then went in with an even smaller dotting tool to five them pupils and eye shine before top coating once more and finally matting them.

Floating On Clouds at 3 coats under artificial lighting.

cloudsbottom

Floating On Clouds at an angle under artificial lighting.

First up is Floating On Clouds, a dainty flaky filled sheer polish with silver, matte white, and holographic components throughout. This polish feels very bridal to me and was right on the edge of being opaque for me at 3 coats. The silver shimmer is very strong here and Floating On Clouds also makes for a beautiful topper!

skiesbottom

When Skies Are Gray at an angle under artificial lighting.

Next up is When Skies Are Grey, a beautiful grey crelly polish with an intense green shimmer and pink, teal, and holographic glitters throughout. This polish does a beautiful job at balancing being translucent enough for the glitters to shine through and opaque enough for full coverage! Opaque at just 2 coats for me, this is a stunning combination!

rainbowbottom

Lastly today I have Rainbow Balloon, a topper filled with a rainbow of circle, diamond, and star pearlescent glitters. The base in this polish is fairly heavy to help keep the glitters suspended but I needed to turn my bottle upside down a bit to get a good mix of glitters! With one swipe and some manipulation I did get a good amount of coverage but I opted to do some placement using a makeup sponge to absorb the excess base.

Swatches | Ollivander’s Wandlore Collection from Nvr Enuff Polish

picmonkey-image-5

Hey guys! Today I have a really quick swatch and review of the Ollivander’s Wandlore collection restocking today (9/24) at Nvr Enuff Polish! I did purchase this set myself and I am thoroughly in love with this collection based on 4 of the mythical wand core creatures from the Harry Potter world!

img_5518

Unicorn Hair shown at 4 coats alone and at 1 coat over black.

img_5511

Unicorn Hair at an angle under artificial lighting.

First up is Unicorn Hair, described as “a delicate buildable topper filled with white/ silver, pearl and blue shift shimmers, add a splash of linear holo.” This polish is gorgeously ethereal on its own but quite sheer. At 4 coats it left me with a really delicate shimmery look! Unicorn Hair can also be used as a topper, at 1 coat over Tux Polish’s Onyx it shows as a flakey blue shimmer.

Next up is Phoenix Feather, described as “a fiery bright red filled with orange/gold shift shimmers and linear holo.” This one was perfectly opaque for me in 2 coats and was super flattering on my skin tone. I love the gold shimmer in this much more than I thought I would!

Next up is Basilisk Horn (that I kept constantly referring to as basilisk tusk!) Basilisk Horn is described as “a beautiful blackened green filled with white, silver and green flakes, lime/gold/pink UCC flakes and linear holo!!” This one was perfectly opaque for me in 2 coats and all those flakes are just begging for a matte topcoat! This shade ended up feeling very vampy on me and I love it!

img_5593

Dragon Heartstring at 4 coats alone and at 1 coat over black.

img_5585

Dragon heartstring at an angle under artificial lighting.

Lastly I have the polish that originally drew me to the collection! This is Dragon Heartstring, described as “a glorious mutli-chrome topper best used over darker colors but looks equally as stunning over blues & purples!
She shifts from bronze, copper, red to golden/green and has shifty larger hex and linear holo!” I was able to get this almost opaque on it’s own at 4 coats but over Tux Polish’s Onyx it really showcases all of that shift and holo goodness! This is an absolutely stunning topper and I can’t wait to use it in more combinations.

But Do They Watermarble | Urban Dictionary Collection by SuperChic Lacquer

img_5637

Hey y’all! For this Friday’s But Do They Watermarble I’m featuring the Urban Dictionary collection releasing on September 26th from SuperChic Lacquer! I’ll go ahead and preface this post by saying, if you are even thinking about picking these up…just do it. They are seriously amazing as stand alone polishes, at stamping, and at water marbling! You can save 10% off any purchase at http://www.superchiclacquer.com using my affiliate code, SLOPPY10, and you can view my full swatch, stamp, and review here.

As always, I’m beginning with my small teacup full of room temperature filtered water. I will drop them first in the order that I swatched them in (Rosebuddy to Deadpool) and then in reverse order before doing a final look.

img_5605

Double linear pattern dropped from Rosebuddy to Deadpool.

img_5608

Petal pattern dropped from Deadpool to Rosebuddy.

img_5612

Final spider web pattern using Awesome Sauce, Rum-Billy, Wonderwall, and Awkward Turtle.

These all drop and spread amazing, they are what I would classify as “aggressive spreaders.” I did have some drying occurring in the outer most ring and some additional spread upon manipulation but over all these preform super well! I am absolutely in love with the final look, I go back and forth between thinking they look like a 70’s print in camp colors to thinking they resemble dragon wings! What do you think?

Hey y’all, today I have an in-depth look at the Apple Orchard Trio releasing on September 23rd from Tux Polish! These are releasing alongside the Fall Classic Cremes collection, this trio is a collection of 3 linear holographic polishes and they were sent to me for review.

reddeliciousbottle

Red Delicious shown at 1 coat plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

reddeliciousbottom

Red delicious at an angle under artificial lighting.

First up is Red Delicious, a deep molten metallic linear holo polish. Red Delicious is completely opaque for me in just 1 easy coat with the same great formula that I’ve come to associate with Tux Polish. This polish (and the others) also do an amazing job at stamping over both lighter and darker colors.

Next up is Orange Pippin, a shimmery orange linear holographic polish that just glows on the nail! Orange Pippin had great coverage at 1 coat but I did a quick second coat to make sure everything was level. This can totally be a one coat polish though, and stamped beautifully over both lighter and darker colors.

Swatches | Fall Classic Cremes Collection from Tux Polish

picmonkey-image-3

Hey y’all! Today I have swatches of the Fall Classic Cremes collection releasing September 23rd from Tux Polish! Every single polish in this collection was completely opaque for me in 1 quick coat and also stamp beautifully over lighter and darker colors. These polishes do have a nice long stem due to the bottle shape so you may want to be mindful of polish traveling down the stem.  These were sent to me for review and I’m so excited to share these versatile and amazing polishes so I’m going to jump really quickly into the swatches.

*Save 10% off any purchase from SuperChic Lacquer by using coupon code SLOPPY10*

Today I am so incredibly stoked to share my swatches of the upcoming Urban Dictionary collection releasing on September 26th from SuperChic Lacquer! This collection is comprised of 8 new one coat holos that will retail for $12 a piece and this set was sent to me for review. These polishes are super pigmented so to protect my nails for these swatches I used the Bring It On base coat as well as the Liquid Macro topcoat to help intensify the holo and protect the finished look.

rosebuddybottle

Rosebuddy shown at 1 coat plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

rosebuddybottom

Rosebuddy at an angle under artificial lighting.

First up today I have Rosebuddy, described as “an intense golden rose duo-chrome holo.” This polish is gorgeously and easily opaque in 1 coat with a strong linear holo effect. It does have a noticeable gold shift that gives this polish a delicate rose gold vibe! Rosebuddy is also amazing for stamping and preforms perfectly over light and dark colors.

Perfectly opaque in one easy coat, Trap Queen also preformed very well for stamping. There’s just not much I can say about this polish that won’t be better shared through the way it photographed, just an all around stunning polish.

Next up is Zombie Crush, described as “an intense black blood holo.” I had such a hard time deciding where to place this in the loosely “RGBIV” order I generally try to swatch in. In some lighting Zombie Crush is a gorgeous deep red, in others it leans more purple, and in some lighting it looks like a deep black shade. Either way it is all around gorgeous and was opaque in just one coat!

Next up is Awesome Sauce, described as “an intense rich dark chocolate holo.” This is a polish I had no idea my collection was lacking, if you don’t own a brown holographic polish you *need* to pick this up! Gorgeously opaque in just one coat, the holo effect is so incredibly strong in Awesome Sauce, it’s so neat to see the rainbow play across the warm brown base.

Next up is another must have, Rum-Billie! Rum-Billie is described as “an intense deep spiced rum holo” and is such a phenomenal burnt orange linear holographic polish. Opaque in just one coat, this is another polish I didn’t know I was missing but now I wonder how I ever lived without because it is seriously giving me life! This polish looks absolutely stunning stamped over both lighter and darker colors. Rum-Billie reminds me of the golden color in a tiger’s eye stone.

wonderwallbottle

wonderwallbottom

Next up is Wonderwall, described as “an intense nude-teal duo-chrome holo.” This is another one I had a hard time putting a perfect label on, in some lighting it looks more nude, in some lighting it leans a bit yellow, and in other lighting the teal duo-chrome shift  shows as a silver/gold shimmer! Wonderwall is the only polish in this collection that I feel like needs a second coat to be completely opaque and the shimmer can get a tiny bit brushstrokey. All in all, this is a beautifully dainty ethereal color that does an amazing job at stamping as well!

Lastly today I have Deadpool, described as “an intense muted ocean blue holo.” Deadpool is easily opaque in one coat and has so much depth in it’s beautiful deep blue tones. I did not have staining with this polish but it is definitely pigmented so this may be one to watch out for. Deadpool is also beautiful stamped over white and dark colors!

So that wraps up my swatch and review for the Urban Dictionary collection, I think every single polish in this collection is worth owning! There is no way I can even begin to try to pick a favorite, I love them all!  Which ones are catching your eye?
