These are thicker polishes so they didn’t want to aggressively spread out. I did get a nice set of well defined rings and they were easy to manipulate however!

For my final design I wanted something a little reminiscent of like “creamer in coffee” but I got a little bit more of a wood grain vibe. I really love seeing all of the nude tones flush against each other like this and I’m pretty happy with the final result! I did have a few air bubbles.

Swatches | Nudity Collection by Virago Varnish

nudity

Today I have swatches of the gorgeous Nudity collection releasing on August 26th from Virago Varnish! This is a set of 6 different nude shades in differing tones and hues to match every skin tone. These were sent to me for review.

I would like to preface this review by saying that this entire collection is incredible! Almost all of the shades are complete one coaters with a perfect formula that self levels with ease. These all also stamp beautifully over light and dark colors.

UncladBottle

Unclad shown at 1 coat plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

Unclad

Unclad at an angle under artificial lighting.

First up is Unclad, described as “a wood-brown nude creme.” This is the warmest darkest shade of the collection and was perfectly opaque in one coat!

Stop Looking At Me Swan shown at 3 coats plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

IMG_1269

Stop Looking At Me Swan at an angle under artificial lighting.

First up is Stop Looking At Me Swan, described as “a white crelly with black, yellow, and gold glitters and flakes.” It is inspired by the “Shampoo is better, I go on first and clean the hair. Conditioner is better, I leave the hair silky and smooth. Stop Looking at me Swan!” part of the movie and is shown here at 3 coats! The formula is on the thicker side but very easy to use with no fishing or manipulation!

IMG_1299

Nudie Magazine Day at an angle under artificial lighting.

Next up is Nude Magazine Day, described as “a nude crelly with aqua, blue, and white glitters and aqua shimmer.” This one is very obviously inspired by the “What day is it? Nudie Magazine Day, Nudie Magazine Day, Nudie Magazine Day!” part of the movie. i absolutely adore nude crelly polishes and this one is amazing, I love the pops of aqua! Opaque for me in 2-3 coats, this has another really easy thicker formula.

IMG_1659

Call Me Miles Davis at an angle under artificial lighting.

Lastly I have my favorite of the trio, Call Me Miles Davis which is described as “a raspberry crelly with black, white, pink, and gold glitters.” This is inspired by one of my favorite parts of the movie as well, when she says “If peeing your pants is cool, Call Me Miles Davis!” This one was opaque for me in 2-3 coats and I love that the base is a darker more matronly suave shade with the fun added effect of the glitters!

But Do They Watermarble | Zoya Urban Grunge One Coat Cremes

Untitled-5

For this week’s But Do They Watermarble I’m featuring the One Coat Creme portion of the Urban Grunge collection available now from Zoya! These were sent to me for review and I have a full swatch, stamp, and review available on my channel. As always I’m starting with my small teacup full of room temperature filtered water and I will drop first in the order that I swatched them, then in reverse order, and then a final look.

These all spread out pretty well, at pretty much the same rate. Courtney may spread out a little more aggressively! No problems getting a ton of rings and I had plenty of manipulation time! Easy-Peasy.

For my final look I prepped my nails with one coat of Zoya Noah and applied Nail Experiments Easy Peel nail latex barrier around my cuticle area. I added in some dots of Courtney over the water spots after dipping.

I wasn’t 100% in love with this look so I added in some fall leaves stamped with Noah on top!

Swatches | Zoya Urban Grunge One Coat Cremes Fall 2016 Collection

UGOCCYT

Today I have my swatches for the One Coat Cremes portion of the Urban Grunge collection, available now from Zoya.com! These were sent to me for review and I will jump right into these super gorgeous shades!

IMG_2597

Noah shown at 1 coat plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

IMG_2594

Noah at an angle under artificial lighting.

First up is Noah, described as a “mid-range taupe evenly balanced between yellow and grey.” I had no problem getting this polish opaque in one thicker coat, it leveled out amazing with no pooling or running. Noah also did an amazing jo at stamping over both white and black!

IMG_2614

August shown at 1 coat plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

IMG_2609

August at an angle under artificial lighting.

Next up is August, described as a “a full coverage gray like a fine, expensive leather wit mid-ranged, balanced tone.” This is a bit of a darker cool toned grey, especially when compared against Zoya’s Dove. Easily opaque in one thickish coat, August also did a great job at stamping over both light and dark colors!

IMG_2627

Mallory shown at 1 coat plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

IMG_2624

Mallory at an angle under artificial lighting.

Next up is Mallory, described as a “a full bodied, Prussian blue with deeply saturated color.” Mallory was also pretty easy to get opaque in one coat but it did leave me with some staining on my skin. This is a very vibrant blue that stamped beautifully over darker and lighter colors.

IMG_2620

IMG_2647

Wyatt shown at 2 coats under artificial lighting.

IMG_2644

Wyatt at an angle under artificial lighting.

Next up is Wyatt, described as a “true racing green with a deep pigment, full coverage, and smooth application.” Wyatt is a deep forest green that leans a little on the cool side for me. I did do 2 coats here but that was only due to my application, I had a small low spot on my swatching nail that evened out beautifully at 2 coats. With careful application this can very easily be a one coater! Wyatt also stamped gorgeously over white and is much more subtle over black.

IMG_2638

Wyatt at an angle under artificial lighting.

Wyatt macro under artificial lighting.

_

IMG_2663

Tara shown at one coat plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

IMG_2659

Tara shown at an angle under artificial lighting.

Next up is Tara and she is totally my favorite of the collection! Tara is described as a “a purple plum with a balanced tone between red and purple.” This deep vampy beauty is completely opaque in 1 coat, I did have some cuticle staining with this shade as well! Tara stamps very nicely over white and much more subtly over darker shades.

IMG_2656

Tara at an angle under artificial lighting.

IMG_2657

Tara macro under artificial lighting.

_

IMG_2681

Courtney shown at 2 coats plus topcoat under artificial lighting.

IMG_2677

Courtney shown at an angle under artificial lighting.

Lastly today I have Courtney, described as a “deep red beet root shade with a full coverage, and smooth application.” I will say that this is the only polish of the entire collection that I feel like really can use a second coat, Courtney has a very squishy almost jelly formula that still showed a bit of nail line at only 1 coat. Even with needing 2 coats this is my second favorite of the collection, this polish also stamps really well over white and is extremely subtle over black.

Next up is No One Mourns The Wicked and this is an instant favorite for me! This one is inspired by Wicked and is described as a “cerulean jelly base with green fantasy flakes, black holo glitter, and green to blue shifting shimmer.” No One Mourns The Wicked built up really well in 3 coats but it also looks boss as a topper over black.

Next up is The Mask You Wear inspired by Phantom Of The Opera and described as a “muted red base with golden shimmer, white shred glitter, and white flakies.” This one will retail for $8 and is truly like no other polish I’ve ever seen! The white shreds will kind of disappear behind the gold shimmer and reappear, it is such a fun effect! This one built up for me in 3 coats and I had to do just a tiny bit of manipulation to keep the larger white flakes off of the tip of my nail.

Next up is Rise Up inspired by Hamilton and described as a “bronze to orange to red shifting base loaded with UCC flakies and gold holo glitter and blue flakies.” Rise Up will retail for $10 and my stand out favorite from this collection! If you can only get 1 polish, this is the one I would recommend! It is seriously gorgeous from every angle, it is a little bit thicker but was completely opaque for me in 2 coats. You may want a good glitter eating topcoat to help smooth out the larger flakes.

Lastly today I have No Day But Today inspired by Rent and described as a “a micro glitter explosion in colors of gold, silver, blue, green, pink, red, and fuchsia. Full coverage in two to three coats.” This one will retail for $8 and is a true multicolored micro glitter polish which usually isn’t up my alley. This one works for me! Easily opaque in 3 coats here, and gorgeous when finished off with topcoat.

But Do They Watermarble | Collab with Maags Dinwiddie ft Sinful Colors Pride Collection

Screen Shot 2016-08-12 at 11.09.56 AM

Today I have a really special Bestie Twin Nails edition of “But Do They Watermarble?” featuring one of my newest youtube crushes, Maags Dinwiddie! We were introduced by @psycho_nurse6 and I instantly felt such a kinship! So we decided to team up and recreate Opal Hazlitt’s water marble/galaxy type nails that she filmed a super awesome tutorial for. Opal was inspired by @renai_madisonnails

I’ll walk you through how I got my final result and then give you a full review on how the Sinful Colors Pride collection preforms at water marbling!

IMG_2362

But Do They Watermarble – Sinful Colors Pride edition,

First I began with my tiny teacup and room temperature filtered water and my nails prepped with one coat of Tux Polish’s Pure and Nail Experiments Easy Peel latex barrier. I then began dropping my bullseye. With this look you really want to overload your bullseye to get a good bleed going so get your inner most ring as small as you can! Once you have your ring like you prefer you are going to want to center your nail over the inner most ring and dip. If you dip off to the side you will get more of a ring pattern and less of a “galaxy/tie dye type feel. After dipping gather up the excess polish as normal and slowly bring your nail out. You should notice some of the excess polish pooling off into the water. Keep gathering the excess polish and dipping, changing the angle each time util the polish quits pooling or you get the effect you like.

IMG_2341

Bullseye before dipping.

Once you have your nail perfectly imperfect, take a cleanup brush and some acetone and be prepared to do a lot of cleanup. The polish kind of bled into my cuticles as i went but I was okay with that since it helped thin it down on my nail. This look is incredibly messy and will take a good bit to dry, I let my nails completely cure before removing my liquid latex to prevent from bumping it on the nail. Once it is completely dry i removed my late and topcoat with Ready In 5 by Colores de Carol. This is my final result:

BDTW

Completed mani under artificial lighting.

BDTW2

BDTW1

Completed “macro” under artificial lighting.

IMG_2377

I forgot my latex on my right hand! These were double dipped.

BDT14

I forgot my latex on my thumb too, I was mesmerized by this print!

_

Next I want to talk a little bit more about how the Sinful Colors Pride line watermarbles. These seriously preform so well! I was able to keep both my AC and fan on (hello, Texas heat) and had no problems whatsoever with spreading or manipulating. This is such  a great and affordable set, I wasn’t able to find mine locally but they are still available on walgreens.com!

NailArt | Nautical Mani Swap with @ThePolishedMage

IMG_2612

I am so excited to share this month’s BHB Mani swap with y’all! I was teamed up with the ever amazing @thepolishedmage, I seriously have so much nail envy every time I see her gorgeous claws. You should definitely check her out and send her love from me, she absolutely killed my nude look!

These nautical nails were originally inspired by another nail friend of ours, the ever-sweet @theweekendpolisher! I was honored to recreate Trish’s look, this is my final result:

IMG_2174

Final nautical matte mani under artificial lighting.

To complete this looks I used Zoya Nail Polish in the shades Purity, America, and Sailor. I started with a base coat of 2 coats of Purity. I topped that off with a generous topping of Glossy Seal and allowed to dry. Next I used a stripping brush and both America and Sailor to free hand some chevron stripes. On second thought I really should have used stripping plate! I then stamped the anchor on using Sailor once more, topcoat with Glossy Seal (which smeared like crazy) and finished off with a matte topcoat.

This polish has a beautiful pink jelly base that took 3 coats to be completely opaque for me but it was very close at 2 coats. Gypsy Spirit has been known to stain so wear a base coat!
