Swatches | Zoya Whispers Transitional 2016 Collection

PicMonkey Collage

I am so beyond stoked to share my swatches of the 2016 “Whispers” transitional Collection from Zoya! These were sent to me in exchange for a swatch and review. This collection includes 6 beautiful pastel neutral shades, and I’ll jump right into the swatches!

First up is Cala, a soft, buttery nude that is described as “a soft nude with a kiss of warmth that will flatter most skin tones.” This was a touch peachy on my very fair skin tone but I still felt like it was a flattering nude shade! Cala was completely opaque for me in 2 coats, the formula is a little on the thin side and had a tendency to run down the stem a little bit but did an amazing job at self leveling. Cala dried to a perfect glossy finish in a pretty standard amount of time.

April at 2 coats with no topcoat under artificial lighting.

Next up is April, a soft neutral shade that leans a bit more pink. April is described as “A light, rosy toned neutral that is a modern take on blush.” Same easy 2 coat application as the other shades in this collection, I feel like it is so close to being my perfect “mannequin hand” nude!

Here is a really quick comparison between Cala and April:

Misty at 2 coats with no topcoat under artificial lighting.

Next up is Misty. Misty is described as “an easy to wear taupe that is an updated version of gray with just a touch of green to make it daring.” I found this shade to shift a ton in different lighting. At times it seemed to be a very neutral light brown tone, in other lighting it looked like a light olive green. Really easy 2 coat formula that dries down to a glossy finish.

Ireland at 2 coats with no topcoat under artificial lighting.

Ireland is a little bit deeper of a green when compared to Misty, it took on more of an olive “army” green tone. Ireland is described as “A uniquely wearable green that is muted enough to make it subtle yet still interesting. This green is well balanced between blue & yellow so it’s flattering on all skin tones.” I found the Ireland really walked the line between being a 1 and 2 coater.

Lake at 2 coats with no topcoat under artificial lighting.

Next up is the soft grayed out blue, Lake. Lake is described as “A softened blue that gives the effect of serene water with just a hint of vibrancy to preserve its luminosity.” When I compared this in the bottle to Zoya Blu, Blu was much lighter and Lake took on almost a slight teal hue. Another strong 2 coater formula.

Eastyn at 2 coats with no topcoat under artificial lighting.

The last shade of the “Whispers” collection is Eastyn. Eastyn is described as “a subtle grayed grape that is more interesting than mauve and gives a modern alternative that is ever so wearable.” This was a surprise favorite for me! I’m not much of a purple girl but this is just such a classy, wearable, purple tinted neutral that I was instantly in love with it. I can’t wait to see this one matted and I am kind of thinking that this would make  gorgeous lip color too, does that make me crazy? Once again, this has a great 2 coat formula.

  1. Your swatches are beautiful! Blu and Eastyn are the only ones from this collection that appeal to me. I am not a huge fan of nudes. I have a couple since they are a staple in any collection, but it isn’t something I’m drawn to.
